Switching from a square grid to a rectangular layout was more complex than it looked. Our original plan relied on equal-sized blocks in a 1:1 ratio, so the change disrupted the flow, balance, and visual rhythm. We had to rethink the entire structure — adjusting image previews which appeared in 3:4 (1015x1350 px) ratios and actual post sizes in 4:5 (1080x1350 px) ratios. Some content had to be redesigned or swapped out entirely. It was a challenge, but it led to a more dynamic, editorial-style layout in the end.
The Solution
Overlay original 3:4 grid on extra 65px (centred) to adapt for 4:5, with a disclaimer added to preserve the grid in the preview.
